What’s the difference from domain to hosting?

A domain is like an address for your website on the internet. It’s what people type into their web browser to visit your site. For example, “google.com” is a domain name.
Hosting, on the other hand, is the physical space where your website’s files are stored on a server. Think of it like the house at the address. When someone types in your domain name (the address), they’re directed to your hosting server (the house), which then serves up the website (the contents of the house).

My name is Mark Perkins and I am working with church staff in updating our website. We are currently using Site 123 as our host but have found it to limiting. After investigating we have decided to take your advice and move over to A2 Hosting and use your services.
My question is while we are developing the new site how do still maintain what we currently have? Can we develop on A2 without going live until we are ready?

Yes, A2 Hosting provides a way to use a temporary domain. I’ll also be publishing a tutorial on how to change your computer settings so you can edit the site on A2 while you’re developing while everyone else will see the old site at the old hosting. I’ll update my comment here when that’s released.
